The Dinner.

The first thing Carter said once Brenna got back was, “Soo is the dinner still happening, since Maisie and I did win?” Brenna laughed and said she would call Adam about it, but was sure it would be happening as long as Adam’s work wasn’t too crazy. 

Luckily Adam had said yes, and Carter was really really pumped about it. He kept bringing it up to Brenna and Maisie, wondering what food they would have and if it would be a ten course meal or something, but Brenna told him to calm down and lower his expectations.

“He’s not a millionaire Carter. I’m sure it’ll be good food but there won’t be ten courses, and there wont be butlers and people to hold your beer while you take a piss. So calm down.” It seemed that was the wrong thing to say though, because now Carter’s mind seemed to be lost in a sea of butlers and beer holders.

When the day did come, a couple weeks later, Carter was in a near frenzy trying to get ready. 

“Maisie, do I wear something fancy? Because he’s fancy? Or casual? Ugh I hate wearing suits, it’s too tight around my neck, and I can’t breathe as easily. Maybe Ill text Brenna about it.”

He picked up his phone and sent a message, and almost immediately he got a reply.

Brenna: Don’t wear a suit you dink! This is casual, we have lots of drinks!

Carter grinned and held the phone up to Maisie as proof. “She says not to wear a suit, so It’s fine.”

Carter had ended up just wearing jeans and flannel as usual, that was easiest.

Brenna was feeling pretty excited for tonight too. Adam was in a good mood, and they had both been in pretty great moods since the trip besides Adam’s worry over his grandpa, which Brenna did her best to sense when he was feeling that way since it was hard to tell with him. When Adam had to go in to the other room for a call or to finish work, she wasn’t even a little bit annoyed, and she started to bring over her own things she needed to work on so they could be together but still getting things done.

When Carter texted her, she held up the phone to Adam and laughed. “Hahah! Carter’s freaking out about what to wear, he asked if he should wear a suit. Probably because of his big old man crush on you.” She teased, moving past him to place the cutlery on the table and giving his ass a squeeze. “Can’t blame him though. If I were a guy, I might be worried about wearing a suit to impress you too.”
