Maisie sniffed back her tears and took a tissue to try and clean her face up a bit as Brenna went to pour them some wine. She smiled so proudly as Carter explained the significance of his new job and how he would be with the very best.
Reaching for the glass of wine she took a big drink and sat down next to Brenna this time. “You have worked so hard for this,” Maisie insisted with a cheers gesture before she took another drink.
“That sounds amazing,” Adam agreed in support. “Have you got things organised for your move? Somewhere to stay? Have you started packing? We know what moving is like, don’t we Brenna?”
Maisie could feel her stomach churning again at the thought of moving so she took a few more large gulps of wine to calm herself. “We have seen some places online. There’s a really cute cottage which is about 15 minutes from the stables which we liked.”
“Uh sorta.” Carter replied, feeling stressed at how much they still had to do. Not only did they need to tell others, but there was securing a place, packing, hiring a moving truck, finding someone to take his place, but most likely his dad would hold on to his place.
Brenna didn’t really want to talk about the move. She hadn’t fully accepted that fact yet. “Anyone want shots?” She asked and Carter waved her off. “Carter come on. You’ve at least got to celebrate!”
“Thanks Brenna, but I really don’t want to be hung over tomorrow when I need to sort all of this stuff.”
“Maisie?” Her voice broke a little when she asked. A desperation to get crazy and forget this anxiety building in her chest. “Adam?”
