you know what, that’s a lie, i have seen a bunch of people so preoccupied with a bunch of tv reviews, the last time was when versace dropped……i get needing validation but also people have opinions, just wait to watch the thing for yourselves. also, it’s on netflix, we’re all in quarantine, i think plenty of people are gonna watch regardless of what a bunch of critics say

I should have probably added -- it’s not like it’ll hurt anyone (that people have specific interest in)’s career if this is a total mess and a bomb.  

I get disappointment is a thing.  But it’s the preoccupation with award winning “bestest” thing that confuses me.

So during the recording of the TDB podcast for ‘Transitioning’, @spaceorphan18 expressed her disappointment (it was most definitely not a rant!) that Kurt had no catalyst moment between his final scene with Blaine in ‘Transitioning’ and his scene with Walter in ‘A Wedding’. It was raised that Kurt’s conversation with Brittany, while setting up the wedding, would have been a perfect opportunity to have this little moment, which would have made their narrative just a little more complete. (Or as spaceorphan put in, any decent writer would have included a catalyst for the character...)

And then she and @thedorkmark challenged me to create this catalyst moment, and so here is my effort. The show didn’t really give me a lot to work with, so this might be a little rough. But here you go- Kurt’s Catalyst.

I’m finally doing it. A month or two later I’m finally doing my top 10 Movies challenge. I have agonised over this list for so long. Because, just like my father, I have grown up a cinemaphile. I love cinematic narratives. Reducing my love down into a top 10 has been IMPOSSIBLE. This list still isn’t even concrete, because it changes literally every day. So here is my list as it stands today. And tomorrow I guarantee it would be different. There are some staples that are unchanging and some that are interchangeable for other depending on how I feel. But I feel like this list shows a bit of all I’m about. Movies that have been important to me from a young age, movies and stories that have grabbed me so personally, and some of my favourite tropes in movies done to perfection. And Musicals. 

I had to give myself some stipulations: No animated movies - I need a whole other list for this or I risk turning this into an all Disney and Pixar list. No cinematic universes spanning multiple films - or this would turn into LOTR and MCU list (a may have an exception or two). But here is kind what I’m about. Thank you for @47mel47 and @thedorkmark for tagging me. I’m tagging @mins80 @hey-blainey and anyone who hasn’t done it yet.

@thedorkmark they definitely took advantage of this is me as they should. It is amazing. I was getting emotional watching the performance. They made all that money by word of mouth??! DAMN. That’s seriously impressive. I never understood why HFPA lumps musicals together with comedies. Every year they feel obligated to nominate a musical because the category lumps the two. A musical can be a drama or a comedy or both. You’re right about the academy. Their standards for musicals are a combination of prestige, critics, and box office sales. Like Moulin Rouge and Chicago. What I feel bad for Hugh about is that I got the sense that he thought The Greatest Showman was going to be the next classic modern day musical that won a bunch of awards. Instead it turned into the film adaptation of Nine.  DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ABOUT LMM LOSING >:( I’m still salty about it a year later. He’ll win an Oscar eventually but still. LMM WAS ROBBED. Another Day Of Sun or Someone In The Crowd were more deserving of a nomination than City Of Stars and Audition (I didn’t think Emma Stone had a strong enough voice to give it the passion it warranted). City Of Stars was awful all around: poor songwriting, poor arrangement, and poor singing (whoever told Ryan Gosling he can sing should take several seats).

so much of twitter thinks s3 is the best season and i’m constantly like ‘did we watch the same show?’

Well, maybe these people really enjoy Puck shaming his teacher into sleeping with him.  Maybe, they enjoy the downward descent of Quinn to the point where she gets hit by a truck and then is magically cured a few episodes later.  Maybe these are the same people who prefer a Jukebox Blaine and Jukebox Mercedes.  Maybe these people who value that argument Finchel had about chairs, see that Finn really was instrumental in Santana’s coming out, and such hardcore Brittana fans that they were fine with Brittany literally not talking for ten episodes.  Maybe these people enjoyed watching Kurt getting shit on because Rachel definitely needed to shine bright and get that Prom Queen Crown of Validation.  And maybe they salivated when Sue and Beiste fought over a man who would literally be a spousal abuser.  Maybe these people just really think Will is a fantastic teacher, deserving of that Best Teacher of the Year award - and his mega prize - Emma’s virginity.  

Or maybe these people are just the members of the Rory Fan Club.  

I suppose we’ll never know.

kermitdrinkingtea.gif there are maybe 4 episodes of s3 i would keep and that’s on a good day. on a bad day it’s the the first episode, cooper anderson and the sebastian and blaine scenes in the first time…..

Hmm, yeah, let’s see, what would I salvage from Season 3, to balance out that rant....
