Mordecai's bed officially had to be rearranged to give him more room to move around now that he's apparently capable of walking around without falling over again. Of course, his newly regained ability to stay upright means he's a lot more trouble, and this morning I had to call in the reinforcements for Operation: Rescue Mordecai from Himself. So, at about 6:00 am this morning Jason left to take Hodgins and Wash to the vet for dentals. By 7:00 am I was up, ready for work, and set up Mordecai with a little nest with food, his water bottle (yes, it was taped to a food canister on an evening where I was particularly ill and looking for a quick solution), his heating pad, and bumpers made of a rolled up sheet so he couldn't fall over. I also set up the baby monitor so I could check in on him while I was at work so I could know if I needed to rush home to him. I got to work and was checking in on him periodically, but at about 8:45 am I went to check on him and his nest was empty (second pic). I had the camera search for him and saw that he had climbed out of his nest and gotten himself stuck. It wasn't an emergency but it did have to be fixed so he would be able to eat and drink during the day. I was in the middle of an important project so I decided to take 5 minutes to see if I could find someone to go to our house and begin Operation RMfH. Luckily @juliemarygray was able to go save his goofy little butt and the rest of the day was spent uneventfully napping whenever I checked on him. So, good news: Mordecai is doing better and Operation RMfH was successful. And the damn bird is a thunderbird, well there goes my whole plan to start saying “The eagle has landed” any time Sam arrived anywhere. :-P “The thunderbird has landed” doesn’t have quite the same panache to it. Oh well. But here is the significance of the thunderbird: “a mythical bird thought by some North American Indians to bring thunder.” Well Sam rocks our world so I guess that’s a propos, nothing like a thunderous…well, I like a lot of things to be thunderous. ;-)
