the earth issue, 02

i purchased the earth issue publication to gain an insight into environmentalist artists, and the way they go about creating in the wake of a climate catastrophe. how they express their concerns with the intention to make a difference

sustainable collectives, who attempt to regain their relationship with the earth, mending the lost connection between man and nature. this lost connection i believe is the biggest indicator for the state our planet is in

“i have realised how much our actions affect everything. i would say the more you can cut down on your fossil fuel consumption/carbon footprint, the more fun you can have. i have seen how little movement, and little action can affect everything in life; where exactly the chain is coming from. you can buy an apple in england that has been flown halfway around the world, whereas here you can just step outside the door and pick an apple from a tree. it’s crazy to know that the answers are so simple, they are all there”

“permaculture recognises human systems, natural systems and the integration between the two. no organism, no phenomenon is isolated or separate. though distinct, everything exists within a web of interconnected relationships, systems within systems”

Malvern - 2017 ⠀ ⠀ Taken during my time at the Three Counties Show in Malvern the cow sheds were the most interesting to me, with farmers getting ready to show their livestock. I photographed this girl whilst leading her cow into the show ring when it decided to take a break, leaving her stranded, luckily her mum was nearby to give the cow some encouragement. The community that makes up British farming is based around passion, with each member of the family involved in the farm.⠀
