taking a break from the seungri situation for the moment but it’s still a rather serious post (sorry).
in the first quarter of this year, i’ve seen so much smut of 2000 liners posted--and a lot of it was posted so early on in the year it’s like people wrote this shit while these idols were underage and waited to post it until the moment they were legal and the authors couldn’t really be called out. and as a 2000 liner kpop fan, it makes me feel legitimately unsafe in the fandom that i’ve grown to love. it really fucking hurts.
but the fact that people who are generally older than me are so fucking eager to sexualize idols my age is really gross. i know i’m an adult, and so are these idols. we’re above the age of consent in basically the entire world, and more than capable of making our own decision. but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to fetishize us as soon as we’re legal.
even if i’m not the one being sexualized like this, it’s very clear that people my age are being treated like ACTUAL OBJECTS. by people who call themselves fans. i would never leave kpop, but the sexualization and objectification of people my age makes me want to because i literally feel unsafe in a place that’s supposed to be a safe haven for me.
and that really fucking hurts.
