It makes me really sad that George is being so negative about Sulu being gay tbh 😦 if they were to create a new character for the sole purpose of them being gay, they would have no depth and no meaning other than being gay 😐
yeah. hopefully he might come around and realize how important it is to lgbt+ youth (and elders) to have major characters that are lgbt+, and not just ones that are made solely for the purpose of saying “heyheyheyhey, everyone, look!!!! i got Representation!!!! come watch our stuff!!! we are representing u!!!”
with sulu, i feel it’s not like that because he’s a character that’s been around since the beginning so (as i’ve said a hundred times before) with him, they’re just adding a layer to his character.
