His Princess at Last

“Sarah,” Jareth began. His expression was tense in its severity. “Do you want to be mine?”
“Forever?”
“Yes.”
Sarah smiled. “Not long at all.”
Everything seemed to happen in a wild blur. After her memories had been given back to her, and she learned that she had passed Jareth’s father’s test, Sarah found herself back in the Goblin Kingdom and being welcomed by everyone within the labyrinth and the Goblin City as not only a Champion, but their Princess.
His princess.
Surprisingly, adjusting hadn’t been too difficult, but perhaps that was due to the fact that she was having the most fun she’d had in her entire life... Or at least, since she was very young. She had been reunited with her friends, who were all very surprised (and Hoggle rather angry) when they learned that her run had granted a reward far beyond the return of her baby brother. She had been given a grand tour of the Labyrinth itself, including both places she had traveled through during her test and those she had not, along with places she had not been to since she was a young child.
Then there were the parties. There was the party thrown by her friends, by the subjects of the Goblin Kingdom, and the celebration thrown by the Fae Court to welcome the newest royal member to the Goblin Kingdom. Unsurprisingly, that particular event had been very tense and short, and ended with Jareth whisking Sarah away from the prying and often jealous eyes of the ladies at court.
Today, finally, was her first day with nothing to do. Things were settling down, and reality of was starting to sink in. Everything, from her beautiful room in the castle to the farthest corner of the Underground was now... Her home. This place that she had frequented, forgotten, then conquered and remembered again was her home. This was where she would grow and spend the rest of her life. She was going to live out the life of a fairytale.
Sarah sat in the gardens behind the castle, contemplating all of this as she stared at the crystal-clear smooth surface of the water of the small pond in front of her.
