On the 30th of August this year, a Leeds-based design firm Passport Design Bureau was approached by local venue The Faversham and executed their re-brand. The Faversham (or The Fav for short) has played a vital role in the local music scene in Leeds, UK; offering a plethora of live music performances and garden parties. What they ultimately asked for was a design that not only considered their loyal student visitors, but also couples looking for a historic & trendy venue to take their vows. Despite marketing itself to two unique target audiences, Passport has chosen a neutral, delicate colour scheme and set of sans & serif fonts that, with the addition of minor details, communicates effectively to both. Its full name; The Faversham is used universally and frequently on the wedding & event planning materials, while its abbreviated form; The Fav, is used on its menus. The result was a multifaceted brand identity that appeals to both a youthful, craft-beer loving audience while sporting a simple aesthetic that can easily transform into something utterly romantic.
Ultimately, the versatility and intricacy of the re-brand is the source of its appeal and, as a result, I might assume that The Faversham will not only keep its place as a local hotspot, but become a global, "grammable" hipster gem.
