I loved this so much that after finishing my Netgalley arc, I preordered not only the US edition but the UK edition too. ———————————————————————— The Final Strife is an incredible debut inspired by Ghanaian folklore and Arabian myths. I loved every second of this book. We follow four POV characters. Sylah and Anoor are our two main characters. One is an ember (red blood) and one is a duster (blue blood). In this world, embers are the ruling class. These two characters end up working together towards their separate goals. Hassa is a ghosting (translucent blood). She is in the bottom class. Ghostings have their tongues cut out and both hands cut off. We don’t get as many chapters from her perspective, but I feel like we’re going to get a lot more from her and other ghostings in the next book. I can’t talk about the final POV character without spoilers. The main plot of the story revolves around revolution, finding the truth, and fighting back against a corrupt society. The magic system is blood magic that only embers are able to perform. This book is full of diversity. All of the characters are people of color, the main character is bisexual, there are multiple gay/lesbian relationships, a transgender character, and a class of characters that use a form of sign language.
