I love food, but never considered myself a #foodie. Whoever decided to put a label on people who love food and like to eat - is an idiot. Some people like to stand out - they love creating labels to differentiate themselves. What they’re trying to do is what comes natural to some of us - We never labeled it. We simply - eat. . Food is an eye-opener. It illuminates new ways of thinking - providing proof that life doesn’t stop after Saké and Pizza - There’s more. . “The Final Table” is a cooking show with world renown chefs. You can see the admiration and respect they have for each other; the pressure they place on themselves, and the fear when being judged by their peers. . It’s a cooking show where the winner wins nothing, except, bragging rights and a reputation. Theres no drama added and no cheap gimmicks to hype up each episode. Teams are given an ingredient and one hour to cook it. The bottom three are chosen to cook again for one of their peers. One is chosen to go home. That’s it. . This appealed to me. It’s simple. It’s not pretentious. It doesn’t try to be more than a bunch of chefs who are passionate about food; they give histories of ingredients, stories about each region, cooking techniques, and personal experiences. They share their stories through food. . The only downside in this show is the host. He’s annoying. He comes off as an obnoxious ass. If you get passed him - it’s a beautiful show . I rank this as my favorite chefs-competition. Its right up there with a documentary called, “The Birth of Sake” - You’ll either love it or really hate it. It might bore you to death if you truly believe yourself to be a foodie; but if you love food, if you’re passionate about food, if you respect the stories behind the people and their food - you’ll love this. .
