“This is good. It’s like reality TV without the hassle of commercials...”
“I can’t open a tab for you unless you give me your card. If my boss found out you were trying to Frank Gallagher the place, she’d have my ass... That’s just the way it works.”
“To stay on call today or to actually have a Saturday to myself... that is the most pressing question right now.” Eli said to no one in particularly -- or anyone listening -- he wasn’t bothered. “If only I can get out of the house... otherwise, I’m leaving the beeper on.”
“I just can’t stop admiring this beautiful car. Is it yours?”
Daniel pushed his skateboard back and forth slowly as he stared down at another test, red pen in hand (and mouth). It occurred to him that he was probably being a bit of a nuisance, considering this was a relatively quiet coffee shop. His earbuds weren’t the best and, at the wrong volume, gave everyone just as good a listen as he got.
“Sorry, am I bothering you?” he asked the person nearest. “Generally, I do this at home but I just felt like getting out today and.... I apologize.”
“Did you know there’s been a string of robberies at Ulta Beauty Supply chains around the city? No, really, every single one of them has been robbed and it’s getting to the tens of thousands.” Rocky sighed, “They’re pictures are circulating from surveillance videos… it’s only a matter of time before they get caught. I just... I find it so interesting that people think they can make a living by stealing goods and reselling them for a discounted price. What’s wrong with people?”
Dog Eared Books. He’d passed by several times but he’d never stopped to explore the small secondhand shop, until now. A quick Google search and store webpage (composed of Comic Sans font and cheesy cartoon graphics, no less) told him that the store did indeed buy books, for cash or store credit. Not particularly needing the store credit but certainly not being opposed to making a bit of cash out of the chore of spring cleaning in his apartment, he’d lugged a large box of paperbacks and hardcovers to Dog Eared Books. Once inside the store, he set the box down at his feet and looked around for anyone that might look like they belonged there.
“Excuse me, are you the owner?”
“Please, help me Obi-one-stranger, you’re my only hope. I can’t decide what colour to go for. I’ve been a readhead for almost 4 months now. It’s practically a record for me. But now I’m finally ready to change, I don’t know what to change to. I’m torn between pink and purple. What do you think?”
