Mari, big question: who is Thrawn? I've been seeing more and more posts about him (mostly on twitter) and how important he is to the story and I got really curious (plus he looks kinda handsome lol)

Well, let me try to give you a brief summary without giving you major spoilers for certain books and shows.
Thrawn (real name Mitth'raw'nuruodo) is from the species known as the Chiss who live in the Unknown Regions of the gffa. Sometime during the Clone Wars, Thrawn met Anakin briefly and helped him in his search for Padmé (book: Thrawn Alliances).
Post-ROTS, he was captured by Imperial forces and taken to Emperor Palpatine. Since Thrawn showed incredible tactical and military skills, Palps sends him to the Imperial Academy on Coruscant with Eli Vanto, who is to be his tutor and help him learn to speak Basic (book: Thrawn), and joins the Imperial navy. He quickly rises in ranks and in Palpatine's favor, and becomes a Grand Admiral of the Imperial Navy in command of the Seventh Fleet.
He's sent to put down a rebellion in Lothal (Star Wars Rebels) and fails. Vader teases him about it all the time in Thrawn: Alliances and it is hilarious how petty he is.
However, after Alliances, hes sent to Lothal again in a final effort to put down the growing resistance there (final season of Star Wars Rebels). I wont spoil how rebels ends.
Now the reason i think people are talking about him and his value to the story is bc Matt Smith was casted for Episode 9 and there are theories that he'll be playing Thrawn bc honestly he has the physique for it
And yes, I agree. He is quite handsome.
