#readinglunch : Maybe One Day by Melissa Kantor
One of the #readinglunch book picks this month was 'Maybe One Day' by Melissa Kantor. I'm travelling for work this week so I started reading it during my unexpectedly extended stay in the Chicago airport. I finished it last night... and then began debating whether or not I wanted to share my two cents. I was drawn in by the synopsis, and really to me the story had a lot of potential. It's not a story I would find myself returning to for another read-through. 80% of the time I found myself so frustrated with the leading character I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to avoid ditching the book. Some of her thoughts, actions and reactions just seemed to come out of nowhere. While the characters were supposed to be Juniors in high school there were moments that they read more like middle grade, and most of the supporting characters were very 1-dimensional. That all being said the storyline overall did have a lot of heart, and I enjoyed it enough to give it a three star rating on goodreads.
