His jaw tenses in response, dry fingertip scraping audibly along the arm of the leather chair he sat in, gazing emptily in the fireplace. He had known for a long time coming that their brief happiness together was temporary, that they had been steadily declining day by day and now they’ve hit rock bottom. He knows they’re both unhappy, that they only stayed for the other’s sake at the expense of their own misery, stuck in a vicious, never ending cycle of toxic arguing and foul moods.
Seokjin takes a long, deep breath to quell his throbbing nerves, but it only gives him air to speak words he’s not quite sure would ease the situation. “You act like I stay for nothing. If you want me gone that badly - tell me.” He mutters, finally lifting his deadpan gaze from the crackling embers to her, staring at her from the doorway of the kitchen.
This is it, he thinks to himself as he watches the shadows dance across her face, waiting for that small telltale sign of a lip bite or brow furrow that would tell him all that he needed to know, so that maybe they can finally put an end to this dragging along.
