The Ghost Bride (2020): A Diverting Paranormal Adventure of an Adaptation

Yangsze Choo’s bestselling debut has been adapted to the screen in Netflix’s The Ghost Bride. Although different from the book, it's still engaging.

Personal Impression: The Ghost Bride

The 6 episodes series doesn’t quite like what I’ve expected it to be after watching the trailer. I was hoping to watch a procession and life of a ghost bride, but it didn’t happen in the series. Maybe it was told in the original novel? 

Episode one and two were kinda slow pace for me. There were also plot holes. But, I managed to stay put and watched the whole because of Er Lang. He’s quite a comedy relieve. ^^

The ending is still an open ending; Li Lan realized her feelings for Er Lang (in a short way) and decided to follow him who has give his 500 years of life to save Li Lan. But, Er Lang was hiding his true condition from Li Lan. Gosh, I do hope for a happy ending for this joyful couple.  

My most favorite scene in this series was when Tian Bai and Li Lan arguing after they lost their horse and carriage while in the woods, then Er Lang was cycling towards them and happily singing, “Gelang, si patu gelang. Gelang, si rama-rama. Mari pulang, marilah pulang, marilah pulang bersama ....” 

That scene was totally hilarious! 

And, the wait for Season 2 has officially starts! (for me). First, Joy of Life, and now, this .... Orz
