Audrey I only know like three ships, so once again, I’m asking you to talk about Kanej

krystal i love you my brutally honest opinion about Kanej is that they are the best ship to ever be invented and anyone who doesn’t like them is valid but also wrong

no but for real, i love them?? they are probably one of my favorite ships ever, because i cannot get enough of that dynamic, and i tend to prefer angst/yearning to established relationships, so with kanej i get exactly what i want. Kanej has so many of the things i like i can’t even list them. 

i will leave you with this quote because it says more than i ever could:

I didn’t mark down “sexiest pair” because well, they’re teenagers, and actual sexiness between them would happen way down the line, and i don’t really think about them in that light. but i love them more than anything and possibly more than my own life BEST SHIP

(I mean if we REALLY want to branch out, I will throw you a curveball and ask about a ship I think only three people know about. Your thoughts on Cicero and Rowena?)

WELL everyone look away, it’s time to talk about some OCs. 

To be brutally honest, Rowena can do better than Cicero (which is news to nobody?) and sometimes, I really think she’s better off without him, but I cannot resist good angst mixed with attraction, so here we are. The thing about this ship is that more often than not- or at least, in all the angsty AUs we love to discuss- it hangs by a thread, and this thread is called “Rowena actually doesn’t need Cicero as much as he needs her, so how long until she loses patience with his utter inability to be a person?” 

That being said, I love to imagine the less angsty moments between them, because I think they enjoy each other’s company a lot (and not because they’re sexually compatible.) They’re both witty people, and I think honestly, they’re both lowkey gossip hens- I can see them cracking up together about court gossip or making fun of people behind their backs, or having private jokes that lead to them exchanging knowing smiles in public, and they’re in their own little bubble of snark where they only slightly look down on others xD. But a relationship working out between them in the long run is tricky, because Rowena has too much self-respect to settle for anything less than she deserves, and she has too much passion not to follow her convictions, which directly conflict with Cicero’s, so the ball is in his court- aka, to be with her in the long run, he has to grow, and that man is allergic to introspection or growth. 

Cicerowena is a glorious, glorious angst fest, and I love every second of it.

I LIKE THEM A LOT. Season 2 in particular gave me a lot of feelings. 

I don’t love everything about them (i mean, this is the “brutally honest opinion” ask, so imma say all the things) but i think the things i like less about them can be attributed to the anime format/tropes? Aka, sometimes I get annoyed with Kyo’s angry boi routine (look sometimes he gets shouty and i don’t like anime-shouty, it annoys me xD) and sometimes i side-eyed him when he called Tohru an idiot, but... it’s a good ship and they make me soft and the season 2 content is absolute top tier. The beach episode... the school trip episode..... they’re good they’re v good

For interested parties, let it be known that I’m currently at the start of season 4 in my rewatch, so everything that pertains to later seasons is based on my very hazy memories of it

Favorite character: Lorelai Gilmore. She’s just so darn enjoyable. 

Least Favorite character: Logan. There’s nothing hugely objectionable about Logan IMO: he’s the kind of character I’d be indifferent too if he didn’t take up so much narrative space. a few episodes of Logan? Fine. Two/three seasons of Logan? This is where the indifference turns into dislike (again, I’m sure there’s characters I like less than him, but they’re not main characters, so)

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): In no particular order: Emily/Richard, Rory/Jess, Luke/Lorelai, Paris/Rory, and Lane/A Love Interest I care about (seriously, none of them did it for me.) 

Character I find most attractive: Later seasons Jess, especially Revival Jess (arms) 

Character I would marry: I say this with love but honestly, being married to any of them sounds like a huge nightmare. All the characters on GG are so messy xD But if I had to choose... Paris. I would probably regret that choice very quickly tho 

Character I would be best friends with: Probably none of them because again, they are messy and exhausting. Luke maybe? At least he’s more or less chill. sometimes. Let me rephrase that: I mean at least I would get a lot of free food  

a random thought: I think Jess’s departure is what allowed him to come back in later seasons in a better light, aka, he’d grown, and if he’d stuck around, his growth would have been “undone” by the drama-focused writing of GG, and I like Jess so much that I really enjoy the fact that he gets to come back, swoop in with his “actually I am great now” and then fuck off away from Stars Hollow xD That being said, I really enjoyed Jess x Luke, and I wish Jess had stayed if only to see their relationship progress on screen. The warm relationship they have later on is great to see, but I kinda wish I’d seen them get there, yk?

An unpopular opinion: Idk if this is unpopular, and I only have a murky memory of Lane’s “romance” with Blonde Guy aka whats his name, but I never liked it. I seem to remember a pregnancy also? Idk. I like Lane a lot, and I wish she’d gotten a nicer romance instead of whatever this was (granted, I don’t remember it much. still on season 4 here.) 

My Canon OTP: Rory x Jess, unfortunately (all the anti Rory/Jess arguments are valid. all of them. i agree with u. yet here i am)

My Non-canon OTP: I don’t think I have one tbh

Most Badass Character: Clearly it’s Emily Gilmore 

Most Epic Villain:  does GG even have villains other than frustrating writing  

Pairing I am not a fan of:  Rory x Logan. A lot of anti shippers like to say Logan was a bad influence on Rory and you know, I’m of the opinion that nah, he wasn’t. Rory tends to do what she wants no matter what, and to attribute her decisions to Logan feels very reductive. So I don’t think Logan was especially bad for her or anything: I just didn’t enjoy him or their relationship in general, it grated me. (They had nice moments, but yeah, I’m not a Logan girl.) 

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Mmmmmmmmmmmmm I’m going to tentatively say Lane, because as I said before, Idk, I feel like her romance was lackluster and I wish she’d gotten something better. (I’m sure there’s better answers to that question tho, I just can’t think of them rn xD I remember hating the Luke has a daughter storyline in later seasons but... I don’t think it screwed him up, it was just annoying to watch.) 

Favourite Friendship:  Lorelai x Rory. Yes they’re family but they’re friends first and foremost

Character I most identify with: When I was younger, Rory. Now, Lorelai, which I find hilarious tbh xD

Character I wish I could be:  Honestly? Rory. She’s got a lot going for her tbh

my favorite female character: I’m going to go with Hawke? Yes look, I know nobody’s Hawke is the same, but I’m trying to think of all the female characters and my favorite is definitely my Hawke (I always play ladies, so yeah.) Hawke is just so fun and snarky and I love her to bits. But if I had to go with a “canon” character, I think it would be Morrigan? She’s really pretty and I’m very queer

my favorite male character: MMMMMMMM. This is really tough because I love all of them in different ways, but I’m going to go with Fenris, because I am in love with him and he glows and has a deep voice and he is v angst but soft

my favorite book/season/etc: This is so hard because all the games have strengths and weaknesses, and it’s very hard for me to resist the absolute prettiness of Inquisition, but I’m gonna go with Dragon Age 2. The game looks bad, all the places look the same, the combat encounters are random and annoying, but I love the act progression, I love the characters, I love the banter, I love Hawke’s story. It just has a feeling I really like

my favorite episode (if its a tv show): Okay so there’s no episodes bUT I can give you my favorite... quest/part? And it’s the end of Trespasser (Trespasser counts as a quest, right. Kind of.) But anyway, the end of Trespasser, with the confrontation/that amazing music..... I possibly love it more than any other moment in all the games. 

my favorite cast member: i don’t really know too much about them tbh but it’s definitely not Gr*g Ellis, fuck that guy (maybe Gideon Emery, Fenris’s VA? I like his voice a lot? But then again, he could be the worst person on earth for all I know xD)

my favorite ship: This is very hard because I love all my romance playthroughs, and the Cullenmance literally cured my depression (it’s true though. I first played DAI when I was very depressed and I’m half-convinced it kept me alive) BUT I love Hawke x Varric so much that I can’t say anything else. SOULMATES. 

a character I’d die defending: Mmmmmmmmm. MMMMMMMM. I don’t know....? I think the closest I come to is Anders, but I wouldn’t die on the Anders-defense hill, so.... I don’t think there’s anyone? A lot of characters do reprehensible things, and I still love them/sympathize, but I don’t really feel a deep need to defend them. I’m like “Yeah no that was fucked-up”. I do feel protective of Sera and Vivienne to an extent- not because they’re my favorites, but because the fandom gives them a lot of shit compared to everyone else. So... maybe them? 

a character I just can’t sympathize with: Mmmmmmmmm. Well, I feel like it’s easy to say Corypheus because he’s just so blah? He’s barely a character to me tbh but I can’t think of anyone else, aside from some minor villains I can’t remember. So let’s go with our boi Coco 

a character I grew to love: I hate, with every fiber of my being, the fact that I’m going to say Solas. My journey through Solas feelings is tortuous and complicated, and I truly have a love/hate relationship with him, but he also fascinates me, and there’s no love/hate without the love, so let’s go with that. 

my anti otp: I can’t think of anything but C*lene/Briala. I am never ever getting those two back together again nOPE NO THANKS

my favorite female character: Inej Ghafa. She’s my favorite I love her so much gkdjkgldf. I’m trying to explain why but there’s no real reason I just love her aesthetic, her personality, everything about her. 

my favorite male character: Kaz Brekker. He’s actually one of my favorite characters in anything ever. I could talk about Kaz for hours (and I do.) It’s all about the layers and I just think he’s so well-constructed as a character. The way his personality, his image, his trauma, and his arc are all interwoven together... it’S GOOD. (sir that’s my emotional support teenage criminal) 

my favorite book/season/etc: Crooked Kingdom is probably my favorite. I love it only slightly more than Six of Crows, but I do love it more. So many emotional/character moments ;_; And it has the Kanej bathroom scene closely followed by the Kaz fights an entire gang all by his damn self scene, which means I get TWO of my favorite scenes back to back. IT’S GOOD

my favorite episode (if its a tv show): NETFLIX PLS GIVE ME THE SHOW SO I CAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION

my favorite cast member: Well, I haven’t seen any of the cast in the show itself (because, you know, it’s not out yet), but they all seem super rad, and I like them all a lot. I am, however, in love with Ben Barnes, so I have to go with him (so, so excited to see him as the Darkling. He is not who I pictured at all and it somehow makes me more hype.) 

my favorite ship: KANEJ KANEJ KANEJ KANEJ KANEJ KAN--- There are no words to express how much I love them. They skyrocketed past all my other otps and i love them to death. Babies.... catching feelings in the midst of their trauma.... fighting to heal together..... i am deceased

a character I’d die defending: Mmmm. I think Inej? There’s not a lot of anti-Inej sentiments out there (thankfully) but every time I see a hint of anti-Inejism, something inside of me pounces, so... Yeah, Inej. 

a character I just can’t sympathize with: You know, I almost said Mal xD But even if I hate him, he’s not entirely unsympathetic to me? So I’m going to go with Jan Van Eck. Fuck that guy (ง'̀-'́)ง 

a character I grew to love: Zoya! I never disliked her, even in the beginning- whenever a rival to the protagonist is introduced, especially when it’s clear the rival is supposed to be the “mean girl”, i brace against the trope because i dislike it so much, and it often leads to me liking the rival girl out of spite. So I always liked her, but I grew to love her in King of Scars. 

my anti otp: Mal*na. God....... I just hate it so damn much. I just. I hate this ship with an irrational passion. There are few ships I hate more tbh (I’ll be fair and say that really look, I know there are worse ships. I just really resent its place in the narrative, and its general impact on Alina- and I resent the fuck out of that endgame.)
