Beep, Beep...
I should have been there.
Beep, beep...
I should have been the one driving that damn car...
Beep, beep, beep...
Then it would have been me... Instead of you, Vanille. I should have been the one lying in this damn hospital bed instead of you. I protect you from everything. I failed to protect you from this.
To make things worse, the bastard that did this got away without a scratch! Just drove off while you swerved off the side of the road and hit that tree. Now there is a strong chance that you won't make this while I sit here with a neck brace and a couple bruises.
"Do you need anything, Fang?"
Fang snapped out of her thoughts to stare towards the door while sitting in a room located in the ICU section of the hospital. Emerald eyes watching the nurse that stepped in and started to check Vanille's status. Wearily, she looked down, to see her knuckles pale from gripping the bars at the edge of the bed.
The brunette sighed and let go, letting her hands sink into her lap. Her voice betrayed her, sounding flat and borderline desperate. "Not unless you can turn back time, Miss. I bet you hear that a lot."
"It's to be expected. Your sister is stable, got a long way to go, but we will do what we can to make sure she lives." The nurse recorded readings that might as well have been chicken scratch to the Yun. Reading was never one of her best subjects, and trusting them to do their job was just about the only thing the Yun could do.
And she hated it. Fang didn't say anything more, so the nurse shut the door and continued making her rounds. Sitting in silence before Fang could bear to speak again. "They think you have a chance to make it. I want to believe it, but I think they may be trying to just keep my hope alive. I see you laying there and want it over with if I am to lose ya, but too damn selfish to even think about letting go. I'm in a hell of a predicament, aren't I?"
Talking about it helped sort of, but not enough to make Fang even entertain the possibility of going to sleep. What if Vanille took a turn for the worst, died in her sleep and that noisy machinery fail to wake her up?
