The Good Egg Soho Revisited
A little bit ago, we went to The Good Egg in Soho and really enjoyed it (read about our last trip here). I said at the time that I’d like to go back and try a few of the other things on the menu and so the other day, I managed to do just that!
We went for the aubergine and pistachio. The aubergine was really nice and smoky and the pistachio as crunchy and fragrant. It was all on a bed of tahini which made it perfect to go with some pitta bread.
The pitta breads were super fluffy pillows of dough. They reminded me of the ones from The Palomar and along with the aubergine, tasted great!
This was the bacon and egg pitta. The pitta in this wasn’t as fluffy but still good and had a nice char on it from where it had been on the grill. The fillings were delicious with good quality bacon, well cooked eggs with runny yolks, some cress and a few pickles. All the flavours worked really well together; this by itself would make a great little snack!
We decided that the eggs in the pitta weren’t enough so we ordered a couple of aleppo fried eggs. I think I would’ve slightly preferred the yolks a tiny bit runnier but that’s just me being picky.
Last up was the Boureka, a flaky pastry parcel filled with sweet potato, feta and dill. The pastry was amazingly crisp and flaky and the filling was not too stodgy, as it sometimes can be. It came with more eggs and pickles. I really enjoyed this but I think my favourite was still the bacon and egg pitta.
This was another really enjoyable meal at The Good Egg Soho. It’s turning out to be a bit of a favourite of mine for a brunch or quick lunch at the weekends around Carnaby Street. If you’re in the area, we definitely recommend you give it a shot!
