Meme for fic writers questions! ^.^ I picked 2 and 12 and then I figured I might as well pick the other x2 questions. Feel free to pick and choose, though!

2. Is there a trope you've yet to try your hand at, but really want to?

Man, I actually had to think quite hard about this one and I still don't have a solid answer. I tend to write what I want and that spans a decent range of tropes.

HOWEVER, there are definitely tropes I've written that I'm 0% confident I've actually done justice to. These include, but are not limited to: mermaids, mafia, body swap (that one's on ao3 but it's ooooold), enemies to lovers

12. Is there an episode above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?

Trigun Stampede's Wolfwood gets me REAL good and fired up to write every time.

Alternately (and not an episode), Gortash's coronation scene from BG3 but SPECIFICALLY when playing Dark Urge.

22. Choose a passage from one of your earlier fics and edit it into your current writing style.

Sas I'll be real I've been trying to do some rewrites for this question for an hour now and can't find any that are working so I will use my skip ability on this question 😭

32. How do you feel about smut?

Describe your comfort zone - a typical you fic

Okay I wanted to talk about this one because I was thought dumping on a specific fic the other day and accidentally summed up both that specific fic AND my fic preferences in one line:

Your hands are bloodied, but his favorite color has always been red.

That's it that's my favorite kind of fic and the one I write most often. Bonus points if the fic includes extended seasonal imagery (usually winter), moral conflict, and emotional hurt/comfort

Kakashi’s been copying others’ jutsu perfectly for years. He’s made a name for himself utilizing that particular skill. Established a lucrative career. Even landed top billing in most country’s bingo books. 

But no matter what he does, he can’t replicate Sakura’s strength.

TMI Tuesday question! In Dutch we have the saying, "Better a friendly neighbour than friend living far away," which means something like "a good neighbour will be better able to help you than someone living far away." Given how the internet has evolved, is "far away" less impactful than it was before? Anyway! Would you rather have a friendly neighbour or a great friend living far away?

I think I am a bit of both. I don’t get out or socialize often, but when I do I don’t meet a stranger. I am the person who talks your ear off when you are in the same line for more than a minute. 

But in the last few years I have gotten much closer to my pocket friends than most IRL friends. I think it’s really wonderful how much I have learned about other cultures by having friends around the world.

8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read? 16. Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?) 19. 8. Is what you like to write the same as what you like to read?

For the most part, yes! 

I like to read angsty - and sometimes smutty - romantic fics with happy endings. (Sometimes I also enjoy a tragic ending if the emotional payoff makes it worth my while). I like stories that delve into the psychology of the characters and punch you in the gut - dark and twisted, but not entirely hopeless. I guess you could say I like to be hurt as a reader, but I also want to know it’s going to be okay in the end. As a writer, I tend to write the stories I want to read but can’t find.

16. Tried anything new with your writing lately? (style, POV, genre, fandom?)

19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favourite verb, something you describe ‘too often’, trope you can’t get enough of?)

Omg, yes. All the fluffin time.

Basically, any synonyms for “look” or “smirk” end up featuring heavily in my stories. Sometimes I catch myself in the editing phase, but not as much as I’d like.

As far as tropes go, I love me a badass Sakura paired with a feminist dork Kakashi, and I will continue to write that dynamic in every way I can imagine until someone comes and takes it from my cold, dead hands. I’m also a huge sucker for a snarky, redeemed, post-Hogwarts Draco Malfoy - when I venture out of my Naruto lane.

TMI Tuesday question! Do you have a favourite instrument (whether to play or to listen to)? And if you could have any instrument you want, which one would it be and would it be something in general or specific like, Idk, a purple guitar from person X?

I actually play clarinet, saxophone, and a very tiny bit of trombone or I did. I has been a long time... I wonder if it’s like riding a bike? 

What attracted me to those particular instruments was my love of jazz, especially dixieland jazz. There is something really pure about it, I wish I could explain it better, but if could be explained with words we wouldn’t need music. 

On a non jazz note, I would love to learn to play guitar. And if I could have any one to just hang on my wall it would probably be  Jerry Garcia’s (also a huge deadhead)

It's TMI Tuesday! Again! Do you have any music on CDs? If yes, do you still listen to them (even if the files are transferred to, say, your computer for listening)? Have you ever burned your own CD with songs of your choice? I know I use CDs in the car, but I know that's a rarity, so... if you listen to music in the car, where does the music originate from (CD, radio, phone, something else)? :D

I still have all my CDs, but I don’t really listen to them anymore. I do listen to vinyl. I have a disturbing number of records (storage is becoming an issue) and I rather enjoy flipping through them when we have people over and just sitting back and listening to music all night. 

Whenever we travel the first thing I do is google local record store and try to check out one or two. I can dig through them for hours... if my husband isn’t with me. If he is I kinda have to hurry so I try to leave him behind when I can. lol.

In my car I usually listen to my spotify playlist.

4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud 

Something I am really proud of is A Thousand Ways to Say I Love You. It was one of those that just spilled out. 

Deep down, Kakashi suspected Sakura knew where his heart lay, but she deserved more than assumptions. He had tried the first morning he awoke with her wrapped in his arms. Her hair had been properly mussed and there had been a tiny bit of drool on her chin. She had never been more beautiful. He'd known in those quiet moments before she woke that this was where he wanted to find himself every morning for the rest of his life. He was going to tell her then, but as she slowly returned to consciousness and started wiggling against him, things had gone a different direction. When they were finally dressed and off to start their days he had kissed her goodbye with all those words still lingering on his tongue and hoped she could taste them too.

To me, Kakashi is one of those people who thinks actions speak louder than words, and let’s face it our boy comes with a lot of baggage. I enjoyed exploring him trying to find a way to say these things, and falling back to showing it the only way he knows how. 

20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people

In The Rival Strikes Back I got to explore a different side of Kakashi and his friendship with Gai during his ANBU period. The Kakashi/Gai rivalry is one of my favorite things about the series. I love how Gai uses it to keep Kakashi from loosing himself. 

This started as little crossover silliness for Star Wars day, but it developed into an opportunity for Kakashi to let go of some of the darkness that always haunts him, even it its just for a few minutes 

25. What part of writing is the most fun? 

Plotting and bouncing ideas around with my friends. I love that moment when an idea strikes and I start making notes in my head (because writing them down would be too logical)  and start putting scenes together.

8. a fic that gives me warm fuzzies THIS is such a cute little one-shot based on Little Shop of Horrors and I love it.

19. The first fic I think of when you say "rain" There were zero fics that I thought of so I scrolled through my reading history instead and remembered THIS GEM which I just reread and has so much good healing in it ;-; we love healing. Def check the trigger warnings (although nothing, iirc, was too gratuitous).

And a freebie is gonna be Hydeous by suchadearie who I love the most <3
