Meall Na Teanga
It may come as a surprise to some of you that in spite of my photographic output, I’m among other things a mountaineer. In Scotland there are 282 summits over 3000 feet and are classified as ‘Munros’; my aim (along with many others) is to ascend all 282 of them. In 25 odd years I have climbed 187 of them (two yesterday on the opposite side of the loch from me in this shot; up in the clouds) But it should not be a surprise; photography for me is an excuse to explore, to find new places and things; like climbing Scottish mountains - it is exploration. Like my quest to visit every Scottish senior football stadium, like my desire to cycle from Land’s End to John o’ Groats. It’s all about the journey and what you find as you make that journey. And what I photograph is my journey, be it up hills, on a bike, around Edinburgh, with my children. Wherever.
