HIPPO CAMPUS Opportunistic — Buffalo, NY. June 2016
HIPPO CAMPUS ‘SEMI PRO’
ILL BE FINE IM ALRIGHT ITS MY BODY
so spicy
“my tasteless affections/are buried in the past”
Where to begin? How to start? I’ve never been one for first impressions...
You can bet that setting foot onto this page may be a mistake. I’m absolutely, 110% unsure of how anything works whatsoever, so bare with me.
“Sometimes I write things” it says in my description... that’s something I’d certainly love to live up to. In fact, I made this blog with that singular intention. So, perhaps I shall begin with a piece of writing, eh?
I’ve always found peace in new beginnings under the majority of circumstances. Each life lends itself to at least a handful of regrets. Whether the issues spawned from these regrets may be resolved or not is yet another story of little relation. Despite the regrettable feelings that claim their place throughout each life, such as the affection you may have possessed for someone who has later proved themselves so tasteless to your changing lifestyle, an opportunity will occasionally present itself before your very eyes.
What sort of opportunity? None other than the obvious time to start new. Perhaps you’re family plans to move away from home, or perhaps you’ve found a way to quit your dreadful job that has been causing you such struggle for the past months of your life. Maybe you’ve escaped a toxic friendship or romantic relationship. All of these issues may be buried in your past as you are met with the opportunity to make new friends, find a more enjoyable occupation, explore new areas, and continue your search for your one true love.
Perhaps this opportunity is so close, you can taste it, or perhaps it seems that each time you approach it, it moves further away. You must always cling on to your faith, your hopefulness. Our world has a frustratingly peculiar way of working, but even the Earth itself knows that everyone deserves a second chance... or third, or maybe even a fourth. Do not forget this, for soon it could be your own chance for a fresh start. Oh, how sweet: the relief of a successful new beginning.
If you hadn’t noticed, this brief piece was loosely inspired by a lyric from the song “traveler” by hippo campus. I intend on keeping that the running theme throughout my works, so if you’d like to see your favorite lyric transformed into a story (hopefully far better than this one...) please do let me know.
Thank you for reading, much love. Here’s to my own new beginning!
