Opening of the HUB Make Lab and The Heritage Collective
We made it! A week before the opening, the team which includes my fellow heritage volunteers was fully decided to back out from this entrepreneurial endeavor. But with the power of dialogues and encouragements, our spirit was lifted up and continued with our pet store, The Heritage Collective.
We describe it as a youth led collaborative space that promotes Filipino cultural heritage and empower communities, artists and entrepreneurs. The HUB Make Lab on the other hand is the whole space that hosts our stall. It used to be a setting for a weekend market held once a month organized by a group of artists called 98B Collaboratory. With the help of Escolta Commercial Association Inc., they upscaled the venue to become the HUB that functions to "serves as incubation space for those who wish to experiment on a more stable and sustainable setting”, according to their Facebook info. Well apparently, we’re among those who ‘experimented’ with them.
This marks another milestone in our collective effort to revive the historic district and to give it a new contemporary narrative and utility. For heritage!!!
