    He’s fully aware his words will fall on deaf ears. It was hard advice to swallow for anyone, let alone a demon whose heart was so packed with snow it might as well be solid ice. And yet, Rin would never forgive himself if he didn’t at least try -- if he didn’t open his mouth and say something, anything to try and help the lonely serpent. 

    “You know, hearts are bigger than just one person. They’re made to keep loving, to never stop. I won’t lie and say there’ll ever be another Tatsuko, but there will be others. You can keep loving Tatsuko till hell freezes over -- but don’t let that stop you from loving others too.”

          Night was, admittedly, a bit lost. He’d completed a mission in this unfamiliar town, then instead of returning home, he’d thought he might put off writing the report by taking some time to wander the surrounding area. There was snow on the ground, and the woods were eerily silent aside from the clean white powder crunching under his footsteps. 

        He had the sense that something demonic was nearby. Though he couldn’t identify exactly what--all the smells in this area were unfamiliar. And as he continued further down his aimless path, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he was being watched... 

       “Okay, whoever the fuck you are, I’ll have you know you’re not being stealthy, so you might as well come on out.”
