True kindness isn’t people-pleasing by the way, even if people older than you try to make it seem that way. If you’re upset you have the right to express that and you’re allowed to have boundaries that you don’t tear down for anyone by the way. As long as you don’t hurt others on purpose at every opportunity then expressing your negative emotions doesn’t make you an asshole by the way. You can be kind while also having self respect. In fact people pleasing kind of destroys your individuality a little bit to be honest. Like it’s okay in small doses but you’re allowed to have emotions and be flawed and express it even if it upsets other people as long as you’re unapologetically yourself and don’t tear other people down. You deserve self respect. Just a thought
Christopher Walken teaching me how to set boundaries. 😂
I don’t need to sacrifice my needs to feel safe. The right people will stay, even when I choose myself.
are we hurting others by letting them do things to us and being people pleasers and having no boundaries?
Going through my mental illnesses and stuff the way people go through their collections like:
“This is my ADHD, I got it from my mother who got it from her father, it’s a treasured family heirloom.”
“This is my autism, it was put in here without me noticing by my father, who was given it the same way by his mother. We put it behind the ADHD and pretend they came as a set.”
“These are my people pleasing coping skills, I’ve collected a lot over the years from all the emotionally immature people in my life, and I would get rid of them but I don’t want to hurt their feelings…”
