“I hate this,” Tom muttered. He wished his eyes were dry, but they hadn’t been been in days - weeks, even. Surely he would run out of tears eventually?

Jopson kept a hand on Tom’s shoulder, warm and gentle, rubbing small circles he probably hoped were comforting. They weren’t, not really. Maybe Tom would appreciate the gesture eventually, but for the moment he didn’t feel he could be appreciative of very much at all.

“What do you mean?” Jopson’s voice felt quiet and distant, even though he was inches away from Tom’s ear. Tom sighed.

“Bein’ the oldest now, I s’ppose. They’d be hurting so much and I can’t even be there for them. Is that what Johnny felt, d’you think?”

He felt Jopson’s hand still and stiffen.

“... I don’t know,” Jopson replied.

I like mellow music; a lot of ambient synthwave, folk/indie rock, old timey jazz, and lotttsss of Romantic composers.

Lolol my bedroom is so small, it's mostly the bed and storage. But, I have a freestanding shelf by my bed that has all my poetry books and some candles :')
