This album turns 25 tomorrow, (my copy is a few years younger than that...but only a few). This is a top 5 record for me. It is one of the few rap records from that era that I still listen to regularly, and still find new discoveries in all the time. I learned so much from these two, applied so much to my own work, so it is an unbelievable honor to be the one to produce and host a podcast series about this album for @consequence and @sonymusic. The first episode went live today, and the guest list is something I am really especially excited about. Speaking with with @murs316, @headkrack, and writer @pxthompson about this brilliant record would have been an episode’s worth of material already, but having the privilege to speaking with one of the album’s Executive Producers @schott_free and the man @mobbdeephavoc himself...13 year old me wouldn’t believe it if I could tell him. I have a lot more great guests coming for this one, it is such an incredible record, build on wild stories. I am super excited to share it with y’all. Search “The Opus” wherever you get podcasts, and give it a listen. And, Happy Birthday to #theinfamous https://www.instagram.com/p/B_XeJ4LlvZ9/?igshid=1xy6dicsmiblg

This week started off shitty and it just got worse for me today. I was on the phone catchin' up with @_revisionary_ after a session, when he told me, "Yo, you heard the news? Prodigy died. They talkin' 'bout it all over the Twitter timeline." Taken by surprise, with awe and disbelief, I got silent. After checking for myself, I couldn't believe it was true. One of my idols, a hip-hop legend is gone. We all knew he was dealing with his illness for some time, but never could I have imagined him passing at the age of just 42. Someone I grew up bumpin' and had all the Mobb Deep and solo projects on CD and downloaded. I probably felt this more than what I felt with MJ and Prince, simply because he was one of the voices of an entire generation of hip-hop that influenced me and made me fall in love with the art. When you hear Prodigy's voice, you hear the voice of New York in its purest, rawest essence. Gold like that is hard to come by these days. My heart goes out to Havoc and everyone else that was close to him. I'm devastated today, but I know the Gawd is in a better place now. Rest in Glory, King. You will forever be The Infamous and your soul, timeless... #RIP #NYC #TORCH #Prodigy #HipHop #MobbDeep #RestInGlory #TheInfamous #TheUNLimitedEra (at Queensbridge, New York)
