The Interview, Pt 2

One short “excellent” and an only slightly longer phone call later, Tibbs was shuttling Tsilik down a long hallway with a private elevator at the end.

He had kept his end of the call vague on purpose. This was one of his favorite parts. The surprise of it all.

He inserted a key that he pulled from under his shirt collar and smashed the elevator button. “You ready?”

It was a rhetorical question, so he didn’t even bother pretending to wait for an answer. “Of course you aren’t.”

Bouncing on his heels as the elevator opened and a giddy, damn near child-like grin split his face. He gently pushed Tsilik inside and looked at him with expectant eyes. This is where people were meant to start reacting. He glanced at the buttons. Down and up. Reached for down, barked a laugh, and slapped his palm onto the ‘up.’

“This is gonna be so good.” He was all a-jitter with nervous energy as the box crept its way skyward.
