Hello! I know you are well versed in the art of plants (and keeping them alive!) so I thought I would ask you what's the best advice you've got for planting your own terrarium? I bought these two succulents (I'm not entirely sure what they are, I know-- very helpful) and I've got two containers to plant them in but I'm not entirely sure how to go about it. I am so very worried about killing them so any advice you can give would be amazing!
The general advice with succulents and terrariums is, probably don’t do it? They’re not terrible and won’t kill your plants immediately but if you’re new to succulents it’s not the best idea. You probably don’t need this much info, but here is an infodump about succulents and terrariums:
It’s possible to keep succulents alive in terrariums and I’ve done it before (epiphytic cacti can actually do quite well, eg. christmas cactus, fishbone cactus), but there are a couple of problems you can run into trying to keep less humidity-tolerant succulents in terrariums.
Succulents should ideally be watered like any other plant - until water starts coming out of the drainage hole a little, to make sure all of the roots get some moisture but the plant isn’t actually sitting in water. They also like to have a short dry period between wet periods, so a normal recommended watering cycle while the plant is actively growing would be to soak the soil all the way through and then wait until the top inch or so of the soil has dried to water again. So anything without a drainage hole is already going to be a little more difficult to water, but the humidity is also a problem.
Terrariums are designed to stay humid - the soil stays wet for longer so you don’t have to water as frequently, but that’s a problem for most succulents that like to have that short dry period. Really high aerial humidity and poor air circulation can also make them more susceptible to fungus and mildew, especially if you spray a terrarium and some water sits on the leaves for long periods of time.
So, in theory, if you put the plant in a potting medium that doesn’t retain much water so it’s never too wet and humid, and you put the terrarium in a dry place with good air circulation so it dries off regularly, you can offset the terrarium problems and keep succulents in there long term. Assuming this is a terrarium with an opening, and not one of the completely closed terrariums. I’ve also experimented with poking holes in the soil and watering small amounts so the water runs to the bottom and soaks into the soil from the bottom up, and it works, but man, that’s a real pain in the ass. I would just make it easier for myself and get a pot with a drainage hole and fill the soil all the way up to the top.
Also, tumblr user saveyoursucculents has a bunch of into about succulent care and terrariums [here] if you want to read someone who is PROBABLY better at giving plant advice.
GUYS!!!!!! I’ll be in Long Beach this weekend at Long Beach Comic Con!

Hey there! Soooo I'm not sure if you've seen but Jason Rothenberg liked your Clarke and Lexa song quite a bit! If you go on his twitter you can see he replied to a girl named Layne Morgan who tweeted it to him. We've been looking to see if you have a twitter to @ but you don't seem to have one. I just thought I'd let you know since it's pretty cool that he got to see it! Also, you are extremely talented well done on that song.

Hey! I saw your gifset with Eliza from another movie/show. She was holding a gun in what looks like a laundromat. I was wondering if you could tell me what the title of the movie/show it was! Thanks!
It was called The Laundromat, and can be found here.
I'm going to post this publicly just in case anyone else was wondering about the same thing x
