//Modern Verse King / the-king-frost / ionahi Howl drabble based off of this idea
Another slow Monday day for Howard Cyrus Pitchiner.
Working at a pet store was already slow enough but typically on mondays it was a graveyard in the pet store. Which means it was the perfect day to clean the cages of the animals. Howard or nicknamed Howl usually worked the store alone and he hated his situation that forced this upon himself, having graduated high school and attending college he had to pay for the extra classes his scholarship didn't pay for, his parents said they could help but Howl wanted to show he could be independent after finally moving out on his own.
But keeping up with rent all by yourself became hard so Howl grabbed as many shifts as he could at the pet store.
Sighing as Howl began getting to work on cleaning out the Guinea pig cage, plucking the squeaking rodents out and placing them in a clean box while they waited. Howl began cleaning his mind wandering then falling on how his friend had found their soulmate a few days ago. People were born with their own eye color of their right eye while their left was the color of their soulmate and when you meet your left eye goes to its original color. Howl was happy for his friend but it left a sour feeling in his chest
His soulmate's eye color was blue which everyone had but finding someone who had a purple eye was near impossible, he hoped his soulmate would find him easily since most people didn't have purple eyes. Howl wondered if people were entranced with his soulmate's unusual yet beautiful eye color. Howl got the purple eyes from his mother, she said finding his father was easy since he had an unusual yellow eye color.
Howl was too into his thought he almost didn't hear the bell ringing that a customer had walked in "Hi welcome!" Howl called out as he quickly finished cleaning the cage and placed the Guinea pigs back in. Washing his hands Howl went looking through the isles for the customer in case they needed help, he found the slightly older than him gentlemen looking at the buggies, his focus on their white one who loved white roses, finding that out when a lady had one in her hair making him chirp happily.
Walking up to the man who curiously had white hair, must have bleached it "Excuse me sir do you need any help?" the man glanced over at him till turning to face Howl, he was taller than Howl but he had been always on the short size. Howl met the man's gaze but he was slightly taken back, the man had a right blue eye and a....purple left one!
Howl recognized his eye color and his left eye began changing back to purple causing the man to also be surprised at the young man's sudden eye change when the realization dawned on them.
"Um I have to ask you, is my left eye now blue?"
Howl snapped out of his daze and looked closely at the man's eye and saw both were a stunning icy blue "Yeah both are blue now and are mine purple?" the man nodded.
A blush then started appearing on Howl's cheeks as he just stared dumbly at his soulmate taking in his appearance, he thank the creators that his soulmate was rather good looking. Snapping again from his daze when the man began speaking but Howl missed it.
"I'm sorry what did you say?"
"I said my names King well thats my new name but I'm wondering whats yours, sorta want to know more about someone I'm suppose to spend the rest of my days with" giving Howl a smile that just made Howl's blush worse.
"I'm Howard but you can call me Howl"
