May I grow so tall and bright, so free and wild, so brave and vibrant, that when you see me standing, you think I'm a sunflower...🌻🌻🌻 I honestly think that this is my favorite quote right now. I'm not even sure where I found it since this popped up in my memories of a couple years back. But it resonates with me now in ways that it didn't back then. The yellow and white Shasta daisy is my favorite flower but the sunflower is a member of the daisy family and runs a close 2nd. No flower can really lift someone’s spirits quite like sunflowers. They are bright and cheery, and as warm and inviting as the sweet summer sun. With brilliant yellow petals, also known as “rays,” sunflowers have an unmistakable sun-like appearance and are also are rich in meaning. Sunflowers throughout different cultures and faiths symbolize adoration, loyalty, longevity, joy, hope, delight, cheer, vitality, intelligence, abundance, provision, nourishment, energy, creativity, life, growth, warmth, unwavering faith and is a symbol for God's love. The sunflower actually follows the sun as it treks across the sky, lifting its head and moving with the direction of the sun. No matter how weak the light, the sunflower will always find it and gravitate toward it. That is a really great life lesson to be learned from this bright flower. They remind us to follow our instinct and to follow our joy - follow whatever lights us up. Sunflowers are known for being “happy” flowers, bringing joy to someone’s day. And, really, that's what I aspire to try and do is to bring joy to other's lives, to nourish their spirit.
