more seriously, i think they might joke about or seriously discuss it but at the end of the day they don't want to have any more kids. it's not just that the creation of another such being is too taxing on their spirits, but also that they understand that deep down they would be looking for their daughter and trying to fill the hole she left in their hearts, and that wouldn't be fair to her nor to the hypothetical child

I can’t say I'm really believe the theory that Melian made Thingol taller, and I’m fine with him just being the tallest elf ever because he was built like that. But it would definitely be funnier if she did.

I mean, Melian already comes off a little unhinged. She’s literally the only Ainu who decided to hook up with one of Eru’s children, then went on to marry him and have his child, all while clearly not giving a single flying fuck what the rest of her kin thought. Because there’s no mention of her asking permission from the Valar to leave and marry an elf, and I don’t believe for a second that she did ask them.

So if we follow that theory, it would be canon that she looked at Thingol and thought: "He’s really pretty, and I want him - but I bet if he were just a bit taller, he’d be even hotter", and then actually tested that idea. Just decided to change the body of a fully grown Elda without caring if it was ethical or not.

Truly an icon.
