Chapter 3: weight

School was tough. Sure, he wasnt bad at it- in fact, his grades were above average. But he sure found interacting with his schoolmates...exhausting. Holding conversations with his classmates was less than ideal- it was actually even quite stupid in his mind. I mean, them? They dont even come close to his level. They dont even know that they are meant to join with Luna- that hes one of HER chosen. Not them. Not anyone. They didnt know the fate of mankind was in the palm of the greatest-

"Matt?? Dang, you almost look like you got beaten up..."

"Yea man, you sure look outta it."

Two of his classmates were standing around his desk- one of them was a rather tanned boy with dark brown hair- he was wearing a similiar style to Matt. The other was a blonde haired dude with lighter skin and a t shirt over wide pants.

"Jeez, you both...im fine. No need to bother. Just tired"

-"Whatever- you coming later? We are going to the skate park"

Yuck. Not with them...whatever, he had to hold up his charm for the sake of not looking like a loser at school. He smiled at them and then stretched. A girl behind him giggled, catching him off guard.

"Cut it out- whatever, yea cya later at the park, Alex..."

With that, the blonde guy and the tanned guy go back to their assigned seats, hearing the footsteps of the teacher approaching.

Alex, Matt and other two of their classmates went to the skatepark together, goofing around, being annoyances to the public- when they saw a 10 year old suddenly trip nearby...

"Hey, you good there buddy?"

Matt decided to go check on the kid- finding him close to tears with a scraped open knee.

"N-no- i suck..."

Not too long after, the group of 15 year olds gathered around him, chuckling around the boy- all except Matt and Alex.

"Yknow, you wont get any better if you sit her and whine about your misfortune. You should get up and try again."

"B-b-but- what if i fall again??" The lad sniffled, seeing the moon necklaces around Matt and Alex's necks.

"Ah...i see youre staring at my pendant..." Matt proceeded to tie it around the boy, getting back up.

"The moon doesnt sit and cry about being unable to come out during the day yknow...sometimes, thinks we dont like happen because they are meant to. Let this be a reminder of your potential...eh..."

"Its Benjamin."

"Yea...Ben. You should come over to our group meeting- well, mine ans Alex's..." His voice turned hushed- "dont tell anyone though...itll be a secret between us three. There...youll find the answers to life and all you wish to know. A bigger purpose."

Matt glanced to his "friends" who had begun chatting amongst themselves- with Alex glancing over at Ben and Matt occasionally.

"Will i get to be my favourite hero there...? Ive always wanted to have the bravery of Link-"

"Youll get to be whoever you want..." and with that, Matt gifted him one last smile- slightly uncanny. He turned away, walking back to Alex- having sparked new hope in another life.
