Hello! I cant remember if this was you who had this issue or not, with fragrances and chemical sensitivities? If it wasn’t, sorry! 😅 I was just wondering if you had any suggestions for hand washing in public. I have only found one kind of soap that doesn’t bother me, and I have yet to find a hand sanitizer I can use. How does one carry around a bottle of soap? 🙃
It was indeed me, and a whole bunch of other people, cause fragrance allergies are fairly common. I feel you on the soap and hand sanitizer, for me, I can’t use the latter cause my skin reacts to it, just straight up blisters, and I have to avoid a lot of liquid soaps due to preservatives. Which yeah, you can feel like a bit of a mad gibbon pulling your own soap out in a public bathroom, but sometimes for the sake of your skin/health you just have to.
If my skin is being very reactive, I will carry around a mini pump dispenser of soap in my backpack, usually in a ziplock baggy, along with any other lotions I might need. Kinda like how you prep for a flight with those clear plastic baggies and travel bottles. Usually, when I have to whip that kind of thing out, the bags also got my meds in it, so people don’t really blink at it. I’ve only had one person ask me about it, and I just said “I have really bad eczema and can’t use a lot of soaps” she just kinda smiled, nodded and said something about her nephew having sensitive skin. So for the most part, people absolutely do not care if that is a thing you are concerned about, and anyone who does care and creates a fuss doesn’t matter.
