this wasn't how helena planned to spend her rare day off, but she didn't mind it — it was with zatanna, after all. even if the two were completely different in social competence (and when it came to liking people at all), hel still largely enjoyed the magician's company.
zatanna was lovable, strong-willed, and devastatingly charming — as clichéd as it was, that word instinctively came to mind when helena thought of zee. helena considered herself a good judge of people's character, as well as awfully skeptical and difficult to please, and so, it had to mean something that zatanna checked off all the positives in her book. sure, helena wasn't admittedly a big fan of magic tricks (“it's not magical, it's just math and subterfuge! i know you memorised your seventh card beforehand!”), but she didn't need to go to any of zee's sold-out shows to enjoy her presence —
only to the address zee had given her, certainly much closer to helena's apartment as well as easier on her wallets. (helena did get free tickets through dinah, but still.)
having changed into a nicer outfit and let her hair down, helena waited patiently for her friend to show up. she was five minutes early, so helena didn't want to annoy zatanna by calling her just yet, thus waiting outside was the chosen plan.
