salem's "game idea" doesnt even really make sense if youve ever been to a restaurant before. "peeping into rooms" what rooms? what are you talking about? theres a kitchen, an office, and some bathrooms in basically every restaurant ever. unless its a weird, very expensive restaurant, nobody has private rooms with doors to peep through. it could even work better as a karaoke bar or a bed and breakfast than as a restaurant, but when youre "creating" an idea that leans so heavily on the ideas of others, internal logic becomes inconsequential because any gaps can be explained by playing whatever game salem's thinking about at the moment. it would be impossible to impliment a game mechanic based on peeping into private rooms in a place thats well known to be entirely public without obviously taking from other sources, because anybody who's ever been to a restaurant or played a game before will have a few more questions about how the restaurant works that salem lacks the forethought to explain or understand.
"its cannibals restaurant and the boss is a cannibal and you have to escape" ok why does the boss cook people? why did the main character take that job? did they know? if they didnt know, how was it kept secret? if they did know, why "escape" now? why the rooms? is there a secret gang type thing thats running the place and prefers privacy? or is it the fact that you played another game and liked that mechanic? there's literally dozens of different cannibal restaurant games on itch right now, how is this any different? these are things even just adequate storytellers know to do. you could read fan fiction with more internal logic.
His ideas never really have to make sense because they’ll never come to fruition honestly.
This isn’t even me being mean. Salem has and has had a history of never following through on his projects.
He’ll talk about them and bring all this ambition, then he’ll make a drawing or two, then it just…dies.
The Hitch and Hitomi comic has been through at least 3-4 relaunches over the years while never getting past the meet “cute” at the fuckass bench. Those 3(?) pages Salem did last year was the furthest that story has progressed without us adding all the times Salem tells instead of shows by adding in reblogs and talking about scenes he knows he’s not gonna draw or write.
He simply doesn’t have the discipline or desire to carry out a project if it does not bring him near-instant gratification.
