Thanks! I'm 85% convinced right now, just have to reevaluate my ability to deal with small screaming people for hours at a time. Although as a further coincidence, a friend from Korea who moved on to Taiwan last year messaged me asking about Europe backpacking tips and she confirmed that it's pretty nice, the only downsides are that income tax is higher and the weather is wetter. But I'll take wet over snow any day (as long as it's not a cold wet).
