Thursday Thoughts... I am a HUGE history nerd! I saw this... and even though some might not agree... being a person who gets to live, learn, and love history every day for a living as I research ancestry... I could not agree more. I have seen things that might be unfavorable... may have embarrassed a client as we learned it was a part of their family legacy... or just something from an ancestor that "looks bad" --- but I always reassure my clients that there are always skeletons hidden in most people's family history... there are things that happened that were a part of the era... or way of life... or period in time... they happened so that we, today, can take those stories.. those tales... those unfavorable things stuck in time... and learn from them... so we don't REPEAT that path. I feel like so many things today are just "taken down" to ERASE the actual meaning behind them... which is not always to commemorate... or honor... sometimes it's to capture those dark times ... as reminders of where we were and how far we've come... It can be like walking a tight rope sometimes in genealogy research... but I always take the honest approach.. no matter what the outcomes... so that all the cards are on the table and my clients can make the call of what they wish to do with what has been unearthed. #historynerd #themoreweknow #themorewegrow #dontrepeat #history #genealogy #genealogyresearch #ancestry #familyhistory #thegenealogyinvestigator #researchmode Want to learn more about Genealogy and Research?
