South Nodes - Oh so scary?
Hello Astro-followers! Seeing as the moon is currently in Scorpio, I thought it would be a great time to share my current obsession. The Nodes. I’ve been a practicing astrologer for almost a decade now. Funny enough, I didn’t start to understand the south node until the day I started seeing my husband. When we started seeing each other, as like in any *new* relationship, it was engulfing, indulging, romantic and intense. I suppose not every new relationship is like this, but ours was. We shared a sense of belonging to each other, like we already knew each other or have been with each other. It was so comfortable right from the start. Once I started looking into our synastry it made perfect sense. It’s the Nodes. (Plus maybe one or two other aspects but I will save that for next time.) Firstly, for those who don’t know much about the Nodes: The Nodes are divided into the North Node and the South Node. Both North Node and South Node are found within a chart, 180* apart. They are always the same degree found in opposite signs. For example: if my North Node is 3* Capricorn then my South Node will be 3* Cancer. People often refer to the nodes as karmic habitual patterns that either determine your life’s purpose or past.
The North Node is your purpose in life. It’s what you didn’t have time to complete in your previous lifetime, and what you should be aiming towards in this lifetime. Depending on the house that it occupies and the sign that it’s in can mean a great deal. For example, my north node is in the 11th house (friends, groups, organizations) and it’s in Capricorn (order, structure, planning). I need to work within groups this lifetime, being the organizer and planner. My north node is also conjunct Pallas Athene who rules over Astrology, patterns and strategy, intelligence, crafts. So ideally, I should be working within groups of people, organizing craft get togethers..? Jokes aside, I am a professional Astrologer.
The North Node is like stepping outside our comfort zone and embracing life in full swing. Whenever you practice north node activities, there is a sense of I’m doing this right or like you should doing this. The South Node is often referred to our past lives. Our south node show us the habitual patterns which we carry forth from previous lives. There’s a sense of familiarity and comfort, like we’ve been here before. The south node is what we have already accomplished in our previous life. Usually these skills gained in our previous life are found from the sign and house placement. For example: I have my south node in Cancer in the 5th house. I most definitely was a mother (Cancer/5th house) in my past life and also creativity comes very easily to me. Skills from the past that seemed almost inherent in this life. I believe a lot of people act on their south node out of comfort but the best thing to do is to use your south node as a launching pad to north node activities.
My husband and I share several connections but the ones I will be focusing on is Moon, Mercury, Venus and Saturn to the Sound Node. Moon conjunct the South Node: This is an intense karmic connection. Often means that you’ve mothered them or been their parent in a past life. There is a shared feeling of comfort and security with each other. You intuitively understand their feelings and habitual patterns. You could have lived with them before in the past. This is a very tight emotional bond.
Mercury conjunct South Node: You could of been their sibling or neighbour before. There is a sense that you understand the way that they communicate and intuitively know what they’re about to say. You would feel very comfortable talking to each other!
Venus conjunct South Node: This connection deems a past life relationship or lover. There is a sense (mostly felt by the Venus person) that you’ve been with them before and like you know each other. Flirting, romance, communication comes easy. Often times people with Venus/South Node aspects come back to each other again and again out of sense of familiarity and comfort.
Saturn conjunct South Node: This combination is a binding one, for sure! Saturn works very similarly to the south node already. Both bring heavy and serious karmic energy. If negatively aspected, this combination can bring quite a lot of restrictive feelings and blockages. It would be tough to work together, but there would be a sense that you’ve done this before. If positively aspected, it can be great supply of support and commitment for building a relationship together. My husband and I share connections to all of these. What do you share with your partner? Have you experienced any of these aspects before? Where in your natal chart do you have your nodes? Would love to hear! Please comment or write me below. Thanks! Love to you all. LC x
