Promoting Pain Shack has been like 800 jobs in one. But it’s been a lot of fun. Last weekend we gave out 130 DVD screeners to the patrons at Cinema Wasteland. We’d always wanted to do that but we never had a reason to make the drive. When you’re working on a movie - or you want to be working on a movie - it’s hard to be in that kind of environment. Thankfully we have Pain Shack. We’ll be at Motor City Nightmares in Novi, MI, on Saturday, April 25th, and then Slaughter in Syracuse in Syracuse, NY, on Saturday, July 11th, where friend of RSStB James Bell will be premiering his new film Tantrum (and it’s a doozy!).

We’ll be handing out free 11x17 posters as well as screener DVDs and whatever else we can muster at Cinema Wasteland Movie and Memorabilia Expo in Strongsville, OH, on Saturday, April 11th. Hope to see you there. Don’t be shy.

Pain Shack's not getting into Sundance, but it's been a blast to shoot. That's how we've been able to churn these installments out. We don't pressure ourselves to get everything perfect and the end result has been more perfect than anything we could've planned. We've made videos like this for such a long time that shooting is second nature. The only setbacks on Pain Shack have been scheduling. My brother Charlie was supposed to be in it more, but he was busy this past weekend (that's what he told me - but then his Facebook says he was "kickin it at the farm" all Saturday so I don't know how busy he was). If somebody can't show up, we'll X the scene they were supposed to be in or push it up to a later installment. Shooting the scenes in sequential order - Troma-style - has been the only way we had any hope of finishing this movie. The reason our previous attempts were disastrous was because actors would shoot half their scenes and then move away, or our camera guy would move away, or the seasons would change and we'd have to wait a year to finish that one scene we shot, etc.

We had wanted to play with the tropes and cliches of the horror genre but what we'd started shooting before was basically just a slasher flick. Too many slasher films, and that's why we decided to turn Pain Shack into a feature-length spoof on Mr. Noodles. He's been such a liar for so long that he was due for a good wedgie. I stopped responding to his hollow threats and toothless insults on Twitter because if he wants to be a coward and hide behind sock accounts then it's pointless to care. If I were making this up, he'd either ignore me or deny my accusations. You get to know someone well when you hear from them every day for years. I honestly never thought he'd respond to Pain Shack. Since he's a stalker, I knew he'd know about it immediately, which turned out to be the case, but I didn't think he'd attempt to troll me. As he might say, "Lulz."

We're about at the midpoint in the story. With history as our guide, we have a general idea of how this movie will play out, but each installment has been improvised from start to finish. We did write some scripts for RSStB in 2012 but they took a long time to film and the end result wasn't anything stronger than usual. Comedy can be scripted to death, which might be why on average you find funnier comedy on TV than in films. Most TV is scripted but there isn't as much riding on it so creators have room to breathe. The Internet gives you all the room to breathe that you'd like. We're like wild animals out here. I don't know what you'd call Pain Shack. A movie? A serialized web series? When it's over, we plan to cut whatever it is into 75 straight minutes. Then we'll see what it is.

Pain Shack - Acid Tripping with thenoodledroop

Anthony's been messaging me memes and other abstract nonsense. When I had him on the line, I asked him point blank if he copies me. That's when he blocked me (read the convo). We can tell he has no idea how to react to this, so each day we see a different side of his multiple personalities. We never would've had anything to laugh at if he hadn't already turned himself into a joke. It's just satire, Tony Farts. Don't blame us.

This one made me laugh.

It’s incredible that Anthony messaged me thirty minutes after the twenty-minute “thenoodledroop vs. RSStB” was posted. He really is my stalker. He hasn’t denied this bullshit, which would’ve been the first thing I’d’ve done, even if it were a casual, “Yeah, right.” My armchair-detective’s intuition’s telling me that if the accused doesn’t immediately deny any wrongdoing, she/he’s usually guilty. I’m surprised he doesn’t have more people sticking up for him. Out of all the sites, I’ve only gotten like three nasty comments, each from conspicuously blank profiles. Everyone seems to be letting out a sigh of relief that somebody’s finally got some good dirt on the Noodle.

Pain Shack's clearing the air. If you're crying, thank god. I feel rejuvenated, like I had a secret for years that I had to keep to myself out of some bizarre duty to be polite. I have a stalker. It feels good to come to grips with it, to move on to a brighter tomorrow, or at least just to laugh at the way Anferny Fandango plays bass.
