How Bout you meet anto through your job and get close to him and meet theo through him and first you really hate his guts but eventually he manages to make you fall for him?
I’d completely forgot that this was in here! I’m so sorry bb but I hope you like it :)Tag list not really included because he’s not a footballer so to speak but tagging those who I know likes him.
Apologies if you’re reading this on the app, chances are it looks like trash.
______________
Peacocking.
“You reallydon’t like me, do you?”You don’t need to look up to know who it is or know he’s got a huge grin on hisface. “Please. Tell me, what gave it away? Was it my openness to speak with you, mywelcoming nature or my soft, not sarcastic tone?” you stop doing the inventory checkto finally look at him.
He’sdressed in the clubs training gear, his hair is natural with no product and he’sfar too amused for his own good. He shouldn’t annoy you, but he does; which isodd because you normally get along with his brother just fine.
“It’s thesmile you give me when you see me. It lights up your face and stops me in mytracks. It’s a thing of beauty.” He’s equally sarcastic and for a moment, youalmost smile in appreciation. “Why don’t you like me?”
“Why do youneed me to?” you click the tip of the pen, pulling the ink nib back inside andallows you to draw on the desk with no worries of actually drawing everywhere.
“I don’tneed you to, but I’d like you to.” Theo decides the ice has been broken and hechances pulling the chair opposite you out, spins it around and sits with his chestpressed against the back of the chair.
“Again,why?”
“Because wehave to spend a lot of time together an-”
“No. Let mestop you right there. I have to spenda lot of time with your brother. You”, you jab your finger in his direction, “choose to come here and annoy me. I don’tget paid to deal with your shit.”
“Just mybrothers.”
“He’s lessannoying than you.” It’s not a complete lie, but it’s also not the completetruth. Sometimes you could strangle Antoine too.
“Doubtthat. He’s a toddler in a mans body.” Theo comments and slurps loudly on hiscapri sun. You narrow your eyes at him.
“And you’rea fine example of an adult.”
“Nicecompliment. You’re warming to me. I can tell.” You put the pen down before youstab him with it and take a deep breath. “Seriously though, why do I bug you somuch?”
“You wantthe real reason?” He shrugs and keeps slurping his drink. “You’re purposelyannoying, you come in here and walk around like you own the place, you act likeyou expect people like me right now, to stop what we’re doing and just panderto your needs. And you always turn up with anentourage and take the good snacks.”
“Obviously, they’re the good snacks.” He pulls a face like it’s the most obvious thingin the world. “But other than that, you’d like me, right?” he repliesunphased by the truths you just hit him with.
“Do youlike me?” You ask in amazement as the penny drops. “But why? I’m always mean toyou.”
“Maybe Ilike it. You really think I come with him to training to be ignored for the fewhours? No, it’s to see you. Maybe I’ve gone about trying to get your attentionin the wrong way but I do like you.”
“Youwere peacocking.” You comment, thinking of all the times he’d turned up incrazy outfits.
“No,that’s just my style but thanks for noticing.” He grins. You must admit, thisis the first time he’s acted normal, been straight with you and held a conversationand it’s a side of him that you can see with Antoine. Dare you say it, but it’sa less obnoxious side to him. It may be a side that you don’t mind.
“Ireally need to finish doing this inventory.” You comment, glancing at the clockon the wall and realising you’re falling behind.
“Can Ihelp? I’m a good note taker and I do this for my clothes anyway, I know how itworks.”
Against yourbetter judgement, you let him help. You’re already down two members of staffand those who are in, are in the kitchen working on the lunch for the guys. Asmuch as you hate admitting it, you could really do with his help. With Theoclutching the sheet and following you, you’re able to go through the stockquicker than you’d expected. He provides conversation which doesn’t distractyou from counting and helps you locate lost stock where needed.
He helpsyou work quickly in the walk-in fridge and freezer, checking dates and doingstock rotation to ensure everything is used correctly and though you try not tosound too impressed, he comes up with a better way of working when it comes tothe pantry and the layout. It would mean a slight rejig but overall, would helpwith efficacy and cut down on time wasting. It was so simple that you’reshocked it hadn’t been implemented before.
“Sooooo….ishaving me around really that bad?” he asks as he leans against the doorway tothe office. You’re sitting in the chair, your fingers typing away at thecomputer when you turn to look at him. You’ve warned him he’s not allowed insidebut he keeps trying to push it. Not even the teammates are allowed inside, strictly staff only.
“Youhelped. Is that what you wanted to hear?” shaking your head, you turn back tothe screen and add in the last remaining numbers before saving the file and sitback to look at him. “I guess you made the stock take bearable.”
“Sorry,I didn’t quite catch that.” He says, turning his head and cupping his ear. “Canyou repeat that?” You scoff at him, hating him for enjoying this so much.
“I said it’sbeen nice having you here.”
“Was thatso hard to admit?”
“Tell mesomething, is this actually you? Not a tactic to get me to talk to you?”
“Go on adate with me and find out for yourself.” Theo grips the doorway and leans back, looking around and only when he’s satisfied that no one is around to see, doeshe quickly enter the office. His hand is in his pocket and within seconds there’sa piece of scrap paper on the desk before you before he’s back out of the room.“There’s my number. Old school I know, but the ball is in your court. I’d likeit if you text me. Let me prove you wrong.” He chews the inside of his cheek ashe looks over you. Noise as the door opening and the lads pour in for somethingto eat distracts him. “I’ll see you around. Don’t lose it.” He nods towards theslip of paper which contains his number. You wait until he’s out of sight before you trace your fingers over the scrawland allow a small smile to appear. Maybe he’s not so bad after all.
