I don’t think there’s a single soul who likes Theomedes…

•I know there’s not much new to say about King Theomedes of Akielos—we barely have any info to begin with—but I still felt like sharing my thoughts. Feel free to comment, I LOVE reading people’s takes!

theomedes lore in my head: loved his sons yet messed up catastrophically, raised damen to be King but raised kastor as His Child, duty vs love, unintentionally generated competition between them, “if i die tell damen he'll be a good king and tell kastor that i love him”, kastor grew up jealous, incompetent and easy to manipulate, an absolute nepo baby, can't even speak veretian properly + damen can't remember the last time he was hugged, has to be ordered by a person who hates him to go to bed after like three days of working his ass off with no sleep, absolutely insane parenting, interesting, juicy, nuanced and complex, tons of questions

literally WHO WAS SHE? how did she meet theomedes? how old was she when they got married? what was their relationship like? does she have any remaining relatives? what did she think about hypermenestra and kastor? how did she treat them? why did theomedes keep trying to have a son with her even though she kept miscarrying and he (even if kastor’s illegitimate) already had an heir?

bonus: did theomedes ever resent damen to an extend for causing egeria’s death?

Not that anyone has asked, but do you know what I want?

I want a Jokaste-centric dark fic in which Jokaste pulls some Amy Dunne type of scheme.

For Jokaste to be the one behind Kastor's betrayal of his family as part of her bigger plan to get to power. And after Kastor murders his family, she finds a way to get rid of him too.

I want Jokaste's baby to be a carefully planned pawn to help her take the Akielon throne she'd desired for so long - and for her not to be too afraid or sentimental to play him as such.

I want her to outsmart the Regent, to let him go on about his desire for 'conquering' Akielos, only to then, when the countries are already united, turn on him and take him down too.

For her to 'hold the throne' and raise her baby, the only descendent of the royal family and therefore the only one in the line of succession, according to her own interests, and then be the one who's actually pulling strings when he ascends.

For her to get rid of anyone who ever challenges her ways or poses a possible threat to her plans.

For her to go from a minor noble's daughter to the most influential, powerful woman in all of Akielos/Vere, and no one even saw her coming because that's how good she is.

I want her to be so selfish, self-serving, and egotistical it makes me sick because the only person she'll ever care about is herself (and maybe her child, but in a selfish, twisted way).

That's what I want. Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss.
