Scot Breithaupt, The "O.M" of BMX passed away 5 years ago today. Scot is credited as being the Godfather Of BMX, as he was the man that started the sport of BMX Racing. He is also the founding father of SE Racing, a brand that still thrives decades later. On a personal level, I owe my life to the fact that BMX existed. Heck, I even met my wife at the BMX track back in the 80's! And I've made BMX my life's work. So, for that, Scot's work impacted my life so greatly, and I'll always be thankful for his contributions to our fantastic sport. 15 years ago yesterday, Scot came here to Florida and hung out at a big BMX BBQ bash that my buddy Jerry Iaciofano hosted at his house. Scot was at home immediately, telling old stories, signing autographs, and all of us had some laughs. We even lit off fireworks to celebrate the 4th Of July. It's not every day that you get to rub shoulders with a legend in your sport, and Scot was just that. A legend. We won't forget you. Rest In Peace, OM.
