everyone's always talking about Taako in the umbrella this. barry joining in the THB that. You all are missing out on the true Galaxy brain Au. Umbrella Taako. undead dryad merle??? directors henchman Magnus. disaster team of davenport Lup and Barry saving the world instead. kravitz loses his absolute goddamn mind in the Crystal Kingdom when these two liches try to fucking lie to him and say they don't even know what a lich is
Well, I’ll start out by saying that if you’re into Lup and Barry in the place of the THB, you should head over to @tazlivereadings cause they’ve got a project about that very thing going on.
THAT BEING SAID... let’s talk about them boys, huh?
Taako has always been frightened by the concept of death, and this fear only increased once his sister turned herself into a powerful immortal being. Dying would be bad enough, but leaving his sister behind was unthinkable. So he did what any reasonable brother would do and became a lich himself. His bond with Lup- his bonds with all of the crew- were enough to keep him anchored, even after he got the inevitable lecture on his stupidity. And all was well, until he went in search of Lup’s relic and wound up being trapped in his own umbrella. Until he was left to sit in a red-curtained room for what felt like an eternity. Until Lup found him again, but she couldn’t remember him, couldn’t remember any of them. Yeah, now that he thought about it, all was not well in Taako Town
Magnus would never forget the day that Julia died. He never could. But after the tragedy, he couldn’t bear to stay near Raven’s Roost. Old memories haunted him like ghosts. So when a mysterious woman known only as the Director offered him a job as a security officer on the moon, he figured that would be about as far from Raven’s Roost as he could get. Besides, he liked the Director. She was trying to help people, and judging by the sad, faraway look in her eyes, she understood what it was like to lose someone. She reminded him of someone that he used to know, but when he tried to pin down who his brain filled with static. Oh well. He had wanted to leave his old memories behind, anyway.
Merle had a home, had a family, but somehow none of that seemed to satisfy him. He longed for adventure, for something to heal that odd missing piece of himself. So much so that, though he certainly wasn’t proud of the fact, he up and left them. He did find some adventure, to be sure, but he also found an arrow through the heart, an inclusion that somewhat dampened the excitement of his efforts. In his dying moments, completely alone, Merle reached out to the only place that he could. He reached out to Pan. And to his surprise, Pan answered. He woke up with a body made of wood and a hundred year’s worth of memories flooding into his brain. Merle still didn’t know why Pan had saved him, but he knew what he had to do now. And he was going to find his family, whatever it took. Even if he died a thousand more times. Even if they didn’t even remember him...
