‘The ox’ John Entwistle, bassist for The Who. When we sat next each other on Friday & Saturday nights at Tramps nightclub, Jermyn Street, John was pleasant but usually quiet. A great exercise to assist in the “connection” between two foot to one foot lateral jumping exercises is using a rope/barrier that increases in distance as you move forward. Still a short coupling exercise so we are trying to “bounce” and stay relaxed with the introduction of moving a greater distance side to side. As stated earlier, I find this to be a great lead in to all lateral and multidirectional bounds. Hopefully #GreyBeard gave a decent enough demo. Huge shout out to #TheOx @mikethomson19 for the assist with the set up. (at Richmond, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/B42wmt2nXST/?igshid=51g1flb4td86
Continuing to dive into our “extra lift” that we are adding through the season I felt it was important to add one of our exercises from our general phase of training for context. So prior to entering “full practice” we were utilizing this variation of a lateral squat that was stolen from @vernongriffith4. We started with this landmine Cossack squat for a few reasons: 1️⃣ we have done a ton of work on the smaller points of guarding this off season, so “sitting in there” seemed to fit quite well. 2️⃣ this is a great challenge to the mobility/flexibility of the adductors to help us move to more “dynamic” frontal plane exercises as we continue. 3️⃣ the guys tried it, and REALLY liked it. So much that some were even telling me and my assistant where they saw it could help their game. That’s a win for me. This progression and idea is well because @mikethomson19 asked the right questions to get me to move the right way, so huge S/O to #TheOx on that one. Here’s old #GreyBeard trying to not look like a still old has been. We programmed this in the 1x20s and have now moved and will share the next steps soon. Also, must tag @strengthcoachtherapy because I’m still hoping I can eat lunch at the cool kids table by rolling my shorts and @therealconehead so he doesn’t have to search to me any more 😉😍😘.
