Hi Rachel, I've read some nonsense, including from "professional" journalists, about how Steven M let himself down in Twice upon a Time, with all the sexist jokes. Even that the whole episode was about him "surrendering" reluctantly to a female doctor. For my part I'm always amazed at people's propensity to miss the point but I imagine for you it's quite frustrating? Or am I wrong - we're you on any level uncomfortable with any of the humour yourself?

This is a question which requires a blog answer. I’m contemplating an article about how I viewed the point of the episode. I am interested in the idea that the lens under which you view the jokes is much about age, per @whovianfeminism, although many self-identifying feminists I talked to did not see the episode like that at all, (including teenagers I spoke to). I’m not going to convince people not to be offended, my daughter reminded me that it’s okay to have differing opinions, but I do think that that is not the point of the episode at all. I’m really sorry that it ruined the episode for some people, because I wish they’d been able to view some of its themes as, for instance, progress, life, death, memories, the nature of ‘man’, what makes us human, the importance of learning from the past, humanity and above all kindness.
