I finally took my sourdough starter out of its several-month fridge hibernation the other day. And I’m SO glad I did!🙌 We were running low on bread so it worked out pretty perfectly that I started this “Weekday Sourdough” recipe from @maurizio on Friday and finished it yesterday.😍 Stoked that his recipe makes two loaves, so now I can freeze one for later! If you haven’t checked out The Perfect Loaf (his site) it’s a great resource for everything sourdough. Going to try out the sourdough focaccia soon enough!🤤 Are y’all baking bread, right now? Who here has made their own sourdough before?🙋🏼♀️ I JUST tried it out for the first time - after neglecting a starter for a couple of months - and am thrilled with how it turned out.🙌 My warmer kitchen and feeding the starter a mix of bread flour + whole wheat helped immensely. Once the starter was ready, I went over to ‘The Perfect Loaf’ (@maurizio) and followed the recipe for Beginner’s Sourdough.🍞 You may have seen the steps in my stories over the last two days! - When it came time to bake, I was super excited - but nervous - and cranked up the oven to bake two boules. After baking one at a time, they turned out beauuuuutifully!😍 I even allowed the first one to cool 90% of the way before slicing the end off for sampling. It’s delicious!🎉 I can’t wait to make more bread recipes, especially because Corey and I loooove sourdough. - The references I used were: @cooksillustrated bread issue, @kingarthurflour guide for reviving a starter, and of course #theperfectloaf.
