The love was there, it’s the undercurrent of their friendship, and that’s why it’s so slow and indirect — because their love is shown through subtle actions. I definitely see it. I shipped it since s3, when it was intended to be a romantic outcome.
yeah i think i'm just so used to blatant fanservice ala free! that when i watch an american t.v. show that doesn't have as obvious implications, i'm kind of retarded at picking up the subtleties haha. but thank you for spreading light on this! i think i might rewatch season 3 now (which is my favorite season tbh) ^^

But Korra took a loooot longer. I think she was subconsciously falling for Asami/wanting to impress her partway through s3, and relied on her heavily emotionally as shown in s4 with her letter to Asami, and felt attraction by Reunions (pt3 of ???)
this makes a lot of sense to me now that you put it in this light! i guess the only problem i really have and why i am still kind of surprised at the ending is that i wanted to see more development than what we were given instead of just trying to guess what the characters really were thinking and feeling. maybe because season 1 and season 2 were all about relationships, and season 3 and 4 weren't, so maybe that's why there is a slight gap in my comprehension of the characters or something...i dunno o_O
