This neat clump of gas and dust are the Pillars of Creation. The Hubble telescope took pictures of it in 1995 (this pic is from 2014 though) and it's incredible. All the gas and dust is being compacted into new stars--hence the name. It's about 7,000 light-years away. I just learned that they were destroyed about 6,000 years ago by a supernova. But because the speed of is finite we haven't seen that happen yet. In about 1,000 years it will not look like this anymore. I'm pretty glad we got pictures of it while we could 😂. I wonder what it will look like in a thousand years. My great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great-great granddaughter/son better come back in time and show me some pictures😂. #ThePillarsOfCreation #Hubble #Stars #astronomy
