💚🎉 Happy Birthday @konstantinkakanias!🕺🏻⁣ What better way to celebrate than to come see the artist’s solo exhibition, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘶𝘦𝘴, now open at Gavlak Palm Beach! ⁣ ⁣ Konstantin Kakanias⁣ 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘦𝘳 (𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮), 2019⁣ Gouache on paper⁣ 15.5 x 21.5 in (39.4 x 54.6 cm)⁣ ⁣ For the second iteration of Konstantin Kakanias’ exhibition, Mrs. Tependris finds herself in Palm Beach, still investigating the complications of life in quarantine, adapting new coping mechanisms with characteristic creativity.⁣ ⁣ Kakanias began creating 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 at the onset of lockdown, authoring humorous captions from the cleverly critical perspective of his iconic character, Mrs. Tependris. First shown at Gavlak Los Angeles, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 has evolved; now comprising of new works. The series of posts and featured paintings offer a perspective on our present times; navigating through what in March we would have thought to be a post- quarantine world, enjoying carefree and mask-free days, we are de facto stuck within the gloomy days of the ‘new normal.’ While collectively heading towards an uncertain future, Mrs. Tependris inspires us to “travel with the mind.”💚👩🏻‍🦰💭⁣ ⁣ View the exhibition in person at Gavlak Palm Beach until October 10, 2020.
